Fire And Sea Machweo

‘Fire And Sea’ is a tale about the Mediterranean people and their music. It’s a story about obsessive research on contaminations between Southern Italy rhythms and melodies and North African atmospheres. Written by Machweo and performed in the studio with his jazz ensemble (electronics, sax, electric guitar, and drums), ‘Fire And Sea’ focuses on the most unitary and political features of music. It brings with it all the melancholy and dance-oriented power of the music mixed with the aggregative and spiritual force of African culture.
As the result of the Machweo artistic research in the last four years, ‘Fire And Sea’ is a journey full of elusive and distorted references to our culture through a schizophrenic path into South Italian traditions and North African culture, conveyed by contemporary electronic music. It is a constant attempt to bring together imaginations and sounds separate only by geography: actually, the Mediterranean Sea is a bridge between cultures and traditions.
