HIC. (strictly with the dot) are Francesco Fratini (trumpet), Nicola Guida (keys), and Fabio Sasso (drums) – three of the best young musicians in the Italian jazz scene nowadays. Lifetime friends, during the years they developed strong professional personal paths, consolidating their reputation in Italy and Europe. Francesco is one of the best Italian trumpeters, collaborating with the most important Italian jazz legends and creating amazing original projects; Nicola regularly attends London’s coolest art and music environments, highly respected by Gilles Peterson and other influent names; Fabio heads one of the coolest and most appreciated festivals in Italy, Gaeta Jazz Festival, and is part of the Khalab’s band.
Khalab – who produced the EP – and Hyperjazz are somehow in the background of the HIC. rising: all three musicians are deeply connected with the label and its founder for a long time.
Thereby, this work perfectly represents the idea of an Hyperjazz “in-house factory”: amazing musicians with defined personal careers collaborate on cool projects under the driving force of the Italian label.
HIC. is the debut EP of the namesake band: with Latin etymology, HIC. is jazz without boundaries. Simple and powerful.
