OSA 2.3 Reliving Lucania is an original Open Sound production, published by Hyperjazz Records. This performance was recorded live surrounded by the rock walls of Casa Cava in Matera on July 6, 2023, as the inaugural event of the 2023 edition of the Open Sound Festival.
The first issue of a series, it transports the listener into a sonic kaleidoscope smelling of roots, landscapes, rituals, unknown.
On side A, Maxwell Simons – selected with the international call OSA 2023 Reliving Lucania – and Rocco Rampino as guest producer, worked together during the artistic residency in Basilicata under the
supervision of the Artistic Director Alioscia Bisceglia. The performance is also featured by the Lucanian musician Daniela Ippolito with the harp, moving between Arbëreshë voices, percussions, drum ‘n’ bass echoes, relaxed and obsessive moments which envelop the listener in a flow of movement and imagination. A combination of tradition and future that re-emerges the power of an aesthetic rooted in the Lucanian territory.
On the B side, Maxwell Simons reworked the sound material from the residency. Jazzy sounds blend with powerful bass groove and footwork, for an overall fresh and deeply engaging sound.
